On this page we have fun facts & links for children related to dairy farming and agriculture. Enjoy!!

Incredible Cow Facts:

  • All cows are females  (The males are called bulls)
  • Cows have four stomachs  (You have just one!)
  • A cow can’t give milk until she’s given birth to a calf
  • The average cow produces 90 glasses of milk each day. That’s enough for 30 children to have 3 glasses of milk a day.
  • Cows provide 90% of the world’s milk. Water buffalo, camels, goats, sheep, horses and reindeer are also milked.
  • A cow weighs about 1400 pounds.  That’s probably 10-25 times what you weigh!
  • A Holstein’s spots are like a fingerprint or snowflake.  No two cows have exactly the same pattern of spots.
  • It takes ten pounds of milk to make one pound of cheese.
  • Vanilla is America’s favorite ice cream flavor.
  • Milk is better for cooling your mouth after eating spicy food than water because of the protein casein; it cleanses the taste buds.

At Lamb Farms we strive to be a leader in quality milk production and ag innovation.  Visitors from our local community and around the globe are always welcome to tour our facilities!  We provide tours for both school and non-school groups.  If you would like a guided tour please let us know.  We will strive to modify the tour to accommodate the needs and interests of your group.

School Groups:  Dairy tours are a wonderful educational experience where students can learn more about where their food comes from.  We have found that kids, teachers & parents alike all enjoy learning about the farm!

Self-Guided Tours:  If you would like to view the cattle being milked at your leisure we are glad to have you!  You can park at the side of our rotary parlor and follow signs for visitors.  The observation area provides a great view of the cows as they’re being milked without disturbing their routine (cows love consistency).   Milking shifts start at 7 am, 3 pm and 11 pm; there is only about 1 hour before each shift where cows won’t be in the parlor while the equipment is being sanitized.

Guided Tours:  For more information or to schedule a guided tour please complete the following form so we can learn more about your group.

We hope you have an enjoyable experience here at Lamb Farms!
