At left is the parlor & office building at Lakeshore, built in 2002.

The 1500 cows on this site are milked in the double-35 herringbone parlor seen at left. This is a rapid-exit Germania milking system. Cows are milked 3 times per day.

Our cows are housed in freestall barns. The stall surfaces are mattresses with sawdust bedding over the top. The cows are fed a "Total Mixed Ration" or TMR, which is formulated specifically for their needs and delivered fresh twice per day. During the summer, fans and sprinklers are used to keep them comfortable in the heat.

Calves are raised in hutches on the farm and fed ultraviolet purified milk until they are 8 weeks of age. After weaning the calves remain in small group housing until around 6 months of age. At this time they move to our Alabama heifer farm, returning to Lakeshore 2 months prior to calving.
